KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In a no-brainer move, the NFL named Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

The fourth-year kicker booted two 58-yard field goals on Sunday, the latter being the game-winner in overtime to down the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chiefs hoisted Butker on their shoulders and carried him off the field.

"I think that was the first time that had ever happened," Butker said Wednesday in a one-on-one with the Home of the Chiefs, 41 Action News.

Butker has had big moments before: a game-winner over Minnesota last season, as well as a field goal in the Super Bowl. But this one, he said, tops them all.

"That's probably number one," Butker said. "Maybe if I have a 60-plus yarder to break the record or something, or a game-winning kick in the Super Bowl, I think it will be hard to beat the 58-yard game-winner."

However, it took forever for it to happen for Butker. There was a Chiefs' penalty on his first try. The Chargers called timeout on his second try. No flags or whistles on his third try. No worries, he nailed all three.

He estimates he was out there for five minutes.

"That was probably a little too long, but I think a little bit of time to catch your breath, to think about the kick, to hopefully hone in on what you need to do to be successful," Butker said. "I do like that added time but not five minutes."

And, after all, every whistle is a chance for a practice kick and Butker will take as many of those as possible.

"There are some kickers, I guess, that won't kick that ball at all, but I'm always going to kick the ball if I can," he said.
