KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Royals said "Roll Tide" with their third-round pick Thursday in the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft, selecting Alabama outfielder Tyler Gentry.
Gentry went undrafted out of high school and actually attended a junior college before landing in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he took off.
As a sophomore, he batted .310 and socked 13 home runs, leading the Crimson Tide in seven offensive categories.
He was off to another fast start as a junior before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the college baseball season with four home runs in 17 games in 2020.
A native of Arlington, Tennessee, Gentry is 6 feet 2 inches and 210 pounds.
