KANSAS CITY, Mo. — While he wasn't a member of the 2019 championship team, it's clear Alex Smith's impact is still felt throughout the organization.
"We always joke that he's a good looking guy," Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on the topic of Smith to a group of local media members Friday. "But underneath that is a tough, tough guy that's highly competitive."
ESPN plans to air an hour-long documentary Friday night on Smith's gruesome leg injury and his extensive rehab process.

"You know how much the game means to him. He doesn't just play because how he looks in a uniform or all that stuff," Reid continued. "He plays because he loves the game."
"When a guy like that, gets an injury like this...it breaks your heart," Reid said.
Current players tweeted their support for Smith's recovery, adding their excitement for the behind-the-scenes style documentary.
