KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Late Monday, national reports hinted that the Kansas City Chiefs were working to finalize a deal with general manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid to keep the Super Bowl-winning pair around for many years to come.

Several reports said the two had agreed to a six-year extension that would keep them in Kansas City through 2025.

On Tuesday, Reid addressed the report in a Zoom call with reporters.

“Yeah, well, you know how we do it here. I mean, we don't talk about contracts and all that, but I would tell you that I love it here. I appreciate the Hunt family, and I’ve mentioned it—this is old news to you, I know—but I appreciate the Hunt family and all that they've done for me since I've been here, and our players and coaches. So, I feel blessed that way. But that's as far as I want to go with that. I love it here,” Reid said.

As the Chiefs look to run it back and create a dynasty, Reid acknowledged the importance of keeping the team and organization together.

“Sure, continuity with players and coaches is great. But the bottom line is everybody's got to work. So, all of the contracts, all the money aside from whomever—it doesn't matter, players or coaches—it doesn't matter. It's how you handle yourself in the sport and how you attack it," Reid said. "That's where our primary focus has been throughout this and we’ll keep that rolling. That's something we can control."

As of Tuesday afternoon, Reid said a contract had not been finalized, but expressed his love for Kansas City.

“There’s nothing done on the contract right this minute, but if it happens that way, I would love that, obviously. I love Kansas City and the people, our fans, are phenomenal. Ownership is phenomenal here. Clark does it the right way, and I've been blessed to be around Mark and Brett Veach, Rick Burkholder, all these people, Ted Crews. These are all people I knew before I got here, and it's a good situation. We’re all willing to work. That's what I don't want to be lost in all that talk, is that people are willing to work, and that's so important I think to the organization. If you're going to be a good organization for more than one year, you’ve got to keep putting it in each year,” said Reid.

The Chiefs said in a statement that regarding contract extensions would be released as soon as a deal is signed and sealed.
