KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The bye week was good to the Kansas City Chiefs from a health perspective.
Coach Andy Reid said every player on the active roster — including guard Andrew Wylie and cornerback Morris Claiborne, who missed the regular season finale — will practice as the team prepares to host the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional playoffs.
The Texans (11-6) and Chiefs (12-4) met in October at Arrowhead Stadium.
Houston rallied from a two-touchdown deficit in the first half to beat Kansas City 31-24 in that week-six meeting.
The banged-up Chiefs were without defensive tackle Chris Jones, linebacker Anthony Hitchens, guard Andrew Wylie, wide receiver Sammy Watkins and special teams standout Dorian O’Daniel in the first meeting.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also re-injured his right ankle during the first half against the Texans on Oct. 13, while wide receiver Tyreek Hill played a reduced role in his first game back from a clavicle injury.
In other words, the Chiefs are a different team, but so too are the Texans, who were without wide receiver Kenny Stills and cornerback Jonathan Joseph in the earlier game.
The rematch kicks off at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
Mahomes and Hitchens will be among KC’s six captains for the game. Tight end Travis Kelce and safety Tyrann Mathieu also will serve as captains along with punter Dustin Colquitt and kicker Harrison Butker.
