KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No curveballs thrown and no surprises, but three of the Royals big name free agents are not interested in the clubs qualifying offer. Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas and Lorenzo Cain have rejected the Royals $17 million offer made earlier this month.
This makes it official, they are now on the open market and will entertain all offers from other teams. Hosmer's name keeps coming up as a possible candidate to wind up in Boston. Moustakas to the Angels and Cain is projected to wind up with the San Francisco Giants.
All is not lost for KC. (Not yet anyway) The team can still make a bid just like all the other clubs and could possibly land at least one of the free agents. Royals general manager Dayton Moore has done this in the past, signing Alex Gordon to a 5 year $72 million deal last year.
