The Brewers drafted Cain in 2004. He came to Kansas City as part of the Zach Greinke trade in 2010.
Since then, he has spent seven years on the Royals. In that time, he helped the team win two American League Championships and a World Series in 2015.
Last year, Cain played in 155 games with a .300 batting average. He hit 15 home runs and had 49 RBI.
Cain and the Brewers are set to come to Kauffman Stadium for a two game series against the Royals on April 24 and 25.
