Royals look for new leader amid line-up changes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — If there's one thing we've learned from this Royals team is that they are a close-knit group of guys but now with some of the major free agents gone moving on to other teams the big question is who is going to step up in this clubhouse and be this team's leader?

"Everybody always looks toward Salvador and his love for the game and his leadership," said Royals skipper Ned Yost.  "Alex (Gordon) with his leadership, Ian Kennedy those types of guys. Jason Hammel has been around for a long time. I think those guys, they've got that natural leadership ability."
Royals catcher Drew Butera says the team's bond is like no other.

"This is our family away from our family and for the last 6 to 10 years. You've kind of seen these teams and the organization grow as a unit as one. It started with those guys that came up through the minor leagues together. You can tell by the way we play for each other that we each have each other's back no matter what and it kind of allows us to play together and win some games."
