The Kansas City Royals announced Mike Moustakas and Mike Minor will begin rehab assignments.
A news release from the Royals stated Moustakas will begin a rehab assignment with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (AA) Wednesday evening. The club placed the third baseman on the 15-day disabled list earlier this month with a left thumb fracture.
Minor will have his rehab assignment transferred to Omaha (AAA). The release stated Minor will make his first rehab start for the Storm Chasers on Friday at Reno.
The news release also announced the Royals have recalled right-handed pitcher Alec Mills from Northwest Arkansas as the 26th man for Wednesday’s split doubleheader with the Boston Red Sox. Mills is 1-1 with a 2.36 ERA in seven starts for the Naturals.
