KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas maintained its grip on the No. 1 ranking in The Associated Press men's college basketball poll.
The Jayhawks received all 65 first-place votes to remain at the top of the ranking for a third straight week.
The past two weeks KU, which finished 17-1 in Big 12 play and won the conference by two games over Baylor, has been a unanimous choice ahead of second-ranked Gonzaga and third-ranked Dayton.
Florida State climbed three spots to No. 4 after winning its first Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title. This is the Seminoles’ highest ranking since sitting at No. 2 in December 1972.
Big 12 runner-up Baylor slipped to No. 5 after a loss Saturday at West Virginia, which returned to the poll in a tie for 22nd with Houston.
No. 24 Butler was the only other new addition to the week's ranking, while Michigan and Penn State fell out of the poll.
The Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament and Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament are coming to downtown Kansas City, Missouri, this week.
The men’s tourney begins Wednesday with No. 8 seed Oklahoma State battling No. 9 seed Iowa State at 6 p.m. at the Sprint Center.
No. 10 seed Kansas State versus No. 7 seed TCU will follow around 8 p.m.
KU and the rest of the top-six seeds in the tourney receive a bye into the quarterfinals, which begin at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The Jayhawks men are scheduled to play at 1:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2.
The Big 12 women’s tourney begins with two first-round games, including 10th-seeded Kansas, on Thursday at Municipal Auditorium.
