Basehor-Linwood and Bishop Miege faced off in the Class 4A Division 1 state semifinals on Friday night.

Bishop Miege started the game very hot. Freshman running back Brison Cobbins found the end zone from ten yards out scoring for the Stags.

Later on in the first quarter, former Hy-Vee 41 Five-Star Athlete of the Week winner Landry Weber picked up the ball and took off all the way for the 66 yard punt return touchdown. That gave the Bishop Miege crowd added life.

The Bobcats defense started turning up the heat as Chas Rollo and Jace Friesen sacked the quarterback.

But Bishop Miege was not to be denied on offense. Quarterback Carter Putz found Landry Weber on the screen pass. Weber turned on the jets for an outstanding cut back for the touchdown. That made it 20 to zero at the end of the first quarter. It was 32 to nothing at halftime.

The final score: Bishop Miege: 52, Basehor-Linwood: 0.

Bishop Miege will move on and go to their third straight Kansas Class 4A Division 1 state title game.
