KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Harrison Butker split the pipes at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday for the first time this training camp. The Decatur, Georgia, native said he used a unique offseason to get stronger, leaner and kick the ball further than ever.

“I was thinking about soccer players, like Cristiano Ronaldo," he told the media Saturday via Zoom video conference. "They’re very low body fat."

That's one area, he said, where he believes he can improve.

"I looked at my nutrition, and I started eating more meals, eating smaller quantities, and I definitely brought my weight down,” Butker said.

The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket posted videos to social media during the offseason of kicks from 70-plus yards out.

Butker converted one of two kicks from more than 60 yards at Saturday practice, nailing from 62 and bouncing a 69-yard kick off the crossbar. The NFL record is 64 yards.

“It felt very comfortable," he said. "I think when you can make those kicks, it makes the 50-yarder -- you know, you don’t get a ton of those, but those seem really short."

The four-year vet finished last season 22 of 23 on kicks of 30 yards or more.
