KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There are currently six head coaching vacancies in the NFL. Four of those teams have come calling on the Chiefs' Eric Bieniemy to interview for their open positions.
The latest one knows Bieniemy very well.
ESPN is reporting the Los Angeles Chargers have reached out to interview Bieniemy.
The Chargers have not only faced Bieniemy's offense six times over the past three seasons, but the franchise originally drafted him into the NFL. He even played in a Super Bowl with the then San Diego Chargers.
The Chargers fired head coach Anthony Lynn Monday after beating the Chiefs in Week 17. Lynn won 12 games with the Chargers in 2018. He only won 12 total the next two seasons.
The Falcons interviewed Bieniemy Monday. The Lions were reportedly set to do so as well. The Jets also have asked for permission to talk to the Chiefs' offensive coordinator, according to reports.
Monday, Andy Reid talked about what makes Bieniemy such a good candidate.
"I have not seen many guys who are as great of a leader as he is of men," said Reid. "And in this business that's huge."
