KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs coach Andy Reid is a veteran of 21 NFL seasons as head coach.

Finally, he's a Super Bowl champion as head coach.

His 207 career regular-season wins and 222 overall win, including the playoffs, both rank sixth in league history.

Reid, who has led the Chiefs to the playoffs in six of seven seasons, won a Super Bowl ring as an assistant coach with the Green Bay Packers during the 1996 season.

He’s regarded as one of the finest offensive minds in NFL history.

Players and other NFL coaches and administrators continually rave about Reid as one of the best people — to play for, to compete against and to work for — in the league.

But for all his accolades, the one thing that eluded Reid until Sunday night was a Super Bowl title as head coach.

Now, that hole on his Hall of Fame resume has been filled after the Chiefs mounted a 21-point rally in the final 6 minutes, 13 seconds of the fourth quarter for a 31-20 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Reid led the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl XXIX during the 2004 season, a 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots.

It was his first appearance and 15 years later his only appearance before Sunday’s victory.

Reid has led the Chiefs to a franchise-record four straight AFC West titles. He also led the Eagles to six NFC East titles, giving him 10 career division titles.

Even Eagles fans in Miami were rooting for a Reid breakthrough, which came thanks to Patrick Mahomes-fueled rally.
