KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It's been 50 years in the making.

Kansas City Chiefs fans have waited for this day and never want it to end. Hundreds of thousands of fans attended the Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade on Wednesday.

Jayvon Runnels and his mother, Aisha Runnels, traveled from Dallas, Texas, to watch in person. They also had gifts for their Super Bowl LIV MVP.

“I was hoping to be able to give Patrick some ketchup," Jayvon Runnels said.

That's right, Jayvon Runnels traveled several hours to give Patrick Mahomes spicy ketchup from Whataburger.

The Runnels even came equipped with a sign, in hopes it would catch his attention. On a day for celebration, Mahomes was more focused on the cans of beer than the condiments.

“He didn’t really notice us, he just looked right past our section," said Jayvon Runnels.

But the excitement of seeing his favorite player in person is why his mother had the trip to Kansas City booked in September.

“I was sure that we would be here, and we are so excited," Aisha Runnels said.

However, other Chiefs fans did not have this day marked on their calendars until the last minute.

“I came from Charleston, South Carolina, this morning," said Mason Talley. "Woke up at 4 a.m., left at 4:30 to catch a 6 a.m. flight to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Kansas City, got here at 9:35 this morning."

Chiefs fans shared their favorite moments from the Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade – many of which included Mahomes letting loose.

“He was loving every minute of it," Aisha Runnels said. "I mean, his excitement made us even more excited."

From tossing the ball around with fans, to throwing a few beers back, it was a day Chiefs Kingdom will remember forever.
