KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan and a recognizable figure at home games has won a trip to Miami for Super Bowl LIV.

On Tuesday, Janel Carbajo, also known as the “Chiefs Puppet Lady,” was named one of the three finalists in Ford’s Hall of Fans competition.

The top three finalists, which also include a Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a Denver Broncos superfan, all won tickets to the Super Bowl on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium, where the Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy. They each received the most votes after a month-long online poll, according to a news release.

Carbajo, of Spring Hill, has been a Chiefs season ticket holder for more than three decades. She had the idea to take a puppet to the games for her daughter was she was younger.

She now brings two punching hand puppets to every game at Arrowhead Stadium — one dressed as a Chiefs player and the other as a player from the opposing team.

Earlier this month, Carbajo told 41 Action News that she has cheered on the Chiefs for 31 years, through all of the team’s ups and downs.

“A true fan is just all heart and you never give up,” she said. “You never give up on your team.”

One of the three Hall of Fans finalists will also represent their team in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That decision will be made Friday.
