KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is set to have foot surgery to repair a turf toe injury that plagued him throughout the playoffs.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted Tuesday that Mahomes will undergo a procedure to repair a torn plantar plate. The procedure is set for Wednesday.

Rapoport says Mahomes’ recovery will take “several months” but he is eventually expected to make a full recovery.

The injury first became apparent in the Chiefs AFC Divisional Round playoff win against the Cleveland Browns. Mahomes battled the injury in the AFC Championship and Super Bowl.
