KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs arrived back in Kansas City shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Monday and coach Andy Reid led the team off the plane holding the Lombardi Trophy aloft.
Reid led the Chiefs to the franchise’s first Super Bowl championship in 50 years Sunday in Miami, where MVP Patrick Mahomes led a 21-point rally in the final 7 minutes for a 31-20 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.
The Chiefs’ and staff immediately hopped aboard buses for a police escort back to Arrowhead Stadium, passing well-wishers who stopped along bridges or cheered from the side of the road along the way.
The Lombardi Trophy got a great view of its new hometown.
