KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Denver Bronco Von Miller called up Frank Clark offering sympathy.
"He said, 'I remember winning the Super Bowl with the Broncos and we were just celebrating, having fun, enjoying ourselves, guys getting all these endorsements and doing all this stuff,'" Clark said about the Denver linebacker. "And I was like, 'Yeah...'"
Clark shook his head at what might have been.
"It's the times, you know," Clark said. "That shows you how quick things can change."
Clark and his teammates had the month of February to celebrate their Super Bowl LIV win, but since then, the offseason has been nothing but lockdowns, virtual workouts and Zoom calls amid the coronavirus pandemic. Celebrating and endorsements, for the most part, will have to wait.
"It shows you how much you should appreciate life and appreciate the good and the bad," Clark said.
The Lombardi Trophy, however, is a lasting prize. And even though Clark, one of the Chiefs biggest extroverts, isn't out and about, he's more than enjoying winning the Super Bowl.
"I still take it in," Clark said. "I take it in every day, honestly. This quarantine I feel like has just allowed me to take it in a lot slower."
And little did he know, he'd be chasing that Big Game feeling again sooner than he thought.
"It's like every game is a Super Bowl right about now," he said. "I just wish we could be back to normal and we could just be playing football."
