COLUMBIA, Mo. -- One of the highest ranked recruits in Missouri basketball history may have played his last basketball game this season.
Early Tuesday afternoon, Missouri basketball tweeted out a statement announcing that Michael Porter Jr. is undergoing surgery Tuesday in Dallas for a procedure on his back.
Michael is expected to make a complete recovery, and the Mizzou Men’s Basketball program wishes Michael the best during this process.

The team says recovery time for the procedure is three to four months, putting Porter’s season in jeopardy.
“Our top priority as a program is the well-being of our student-athletes, so Michael beginning this process to be 100 percent healthy is important to all of us,” Mizzou coach Cuonzo Martin said in a statement. “Our focus has been on Michael’s well-being, just like every other player in our locker room.”
Statement from #MPJr:
“I really appreciate the support of my family & program as I begin this process. I’m thankful for the kind words & messages I’ve received from fans. Those mean a lot to me. I cannot wait to be completely healthy and playing the game I love, once again.”
