Perez missed the entire 2019 season with Tommy John surgery.
During a shortened season in 2020, he hit for a career-high .333 average with 11 home runs and 32 RBI's in just 37 games.
He also recorded 12 doubles, scored 22 runs, walked 17 times and even stole a base.
Perez is a six-time All-Star. He's the second Royals' player to be named AL Comeback Player of the Year Award.
Mike Moustakas was the AL Comeback Player of the Year in 2017.
