KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jet took off against his namesake.
Mecole Hardman raked in seven catches across nine targets Sunday against the New York Jets, tallying 96 yards and a touchdown, helping the Kansas City Chiefs improve to 7-1.
“In this offense, you can get the ball at anytime,” the former Georgia Bulldog said. “And so I just try to... be in the right spot [and] try to give Pat [Mahomes] a good target to throw to.”
Hardman said despite his best stat line of the 2020 season, he dropped two passes.
“I had a good game but it could’ve been a better game," he said.

A signal of the second year player's maturation? Keeping a play alive mid-way through the third quarter to help continue a multi-play drive in the redzone.
“I probably wouldn’t have done that my first year,” he said. “But the more you play with Pat, the more better you get a grip of what he’s trying to do.”
Hardman has helped fill a void left by injured wideout Sammy Watkins, who is expected to miss ‘a few weeks’ with a hamstring injury.
