KANSAS CITY, Mo. — If you're heading out to Kauffman Stadium for a Royals game this season, there are few things you'll want to know before heading out the door.

We've rounded up some of the most important information for you here.

Ballpark App
Kauffman Stadium is moving toward a paperless approach. Instead of printing tickets, the Royals will require fans to download the Ballpark App and their smartphone or tablet and access a digital version of their ticket. The ticket window will print a stub for fans who want a souvenir for $5. Learn more about the app here.

Gates Open

  • Friday - Sunday Games: All gates will open an hour and a half prior to game time. Gate C opens 2 hours prior for Crown Club ticket holders (Sections 1 - 6) only.
  • Monday - Thursday Games: Gates A & E in the Outfield Experience will open an hour and a half prior to game time. All remaining gates (Gates B, C & D) will open 1 hour prior to game time. Gate C opens 2 hours prior to Crown Club ticket holders (Sections 1 - 6) only.
  • Giveaway Games: All gates will open an hour and a half prior to game time. Gate C opens 2 hours prior to Crown Club ticket holders (Sections 1 - 6) only.

Tailgating/Parking Rules

  • Parking at Kauffman Stadium costs $12 per vehicle, when you purchase a pass in advance. The price jumps to $15 cash only, if you purchase a pass at the stadium tollgate
  • The parking lot opens several hours before the first pitch, but the specific time varies depending on expected attendance of each game.
  • You can purchase a parking pass even if you don’t plan to buy a ticket to the game. But tailgating ends when the 2nd inning of the game begins and tailgaters will have to enter the game or leave the premises.
  • You cannot drive your vehicle from the west parking lot to the east, once you've entered the complex. Royals recommend looking at this map to decide where you want to park before you leave for Kauffman Stadium.

Theme Tickets
Some Royals games have theme nights. If you want the giveaways, you must purchase a theme ticket. Here's a look at some of them happening next month.

  • April 13 - Sporting KC Night
  • April 14 - Game of Thrones Day
  • April 26 - Teacher Appreciation Night
  • April 27 - Wichita State Night
  • April 29 - Bark at the Park

If you purchase a theme ticket this year, it's important to note it will not come with a separate voucher. Instead, there will be a unique code printed on the ticket.
