KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fans will be wearing Patrick Mahomes jerseys when the Chiefs star quarterback starts his first game at Arrowhead Stadium.
A Rally House district manager said Mahomes jerseys have far and away outsold other Chiefs jerseys to start the season. Dirk Liebert said the chain has sold out of Mahomes jerseys several times. All that was available Thursday were replica-style white jerseys. The store doesn't have authentic, stitched jerseys.
Fans say the team's high-scoring undefeated start to the season has created high expectations for the first home game of the year.
"I think what really makes me most excited is the excitement the offense brings to the table. Our defense struggles a little bit. But our offense can handle it and put the points. We have lots of weapons," explained Barrett Ballinger, who has season tickets.
The Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers at noon Sunday. The gates to the parking lot open at 7 a.m. New this year, the Chiefs will not allow people to stay in the parking lot during the game. At the recommendation of the NFL, the Chiefs are asking all fans to leave their tailgates and enter the stadium prior to kickoff.
