The Kansas City Chiefs asked, and fans have voted.
“Hey, Kansas City!” by David George & A Crooked Mile has been selected as the new touchdown celebration song at Arrowhead Stadium, according to a news release from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Here’s how the voting broke down:
- “Hey, Kansas City!” David George & A Crooked Mile – 45.9 percent
- “Let Me Clear My Throat” by DJ Kool – 31.9 percent
- “Song 2” by Blur – 22.2 percent
"First and foremost, it is an honor to even be considered for this opportunity. To then have the Chiefs fans vote for 'Hey, Kansas City!' to be the new touchdown song is unimaginable,” George said in a news release. “I am overwhelmed and humbled by the endorsement of the great fans who voted for the song and I am extremely appreciative of their support!"

The Chiefs said while a new touchdown song is a shift, with the help of George, the new touchdown song will include Chiefs fans’ “You, You, You,” fan chant.
“Much of the feedback we received from Chiefs fans was that they wanted to retain the feeling and intimidation factor that comes when 75,000-plus fans chant in unison,” Mark Donovan said in a news release. “Because the fan chant is not part of the Gary Glitter song and was added by Chiefs fans, we asked David George to incorporate that element in the beat of the new song. We think this addition to the new touchdown song will deliver that traditional aspect of Arrowhead touchdowns that our fans love.”
The news release states David George & A Crooked Mile will perform a free concert for Chiefs fans at the Ford Fan Experience at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, before kickoff.
