KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The fourth preseason game is generally regarded as the throw-away preseason game. Somehow the least significant of all four insignificant tune-ups.
But for dozens of Chiefs, it could a make or break moment in their football careers.
"Like we told them from Day 1, try to make the final evaluation as tough on (Chiefs General Manager Brett) Veach as tough as you can," said Andy Reid Tuesday.
The majority of starters, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, won't play Thursday night as the Chiefs host the Green Bay Packers. They'll give way to a bunch of roster hopefuls looking to make the cut.
"I just want them all playing hard and trying to capture those positions there," says Reid.
NFL rosters are restricted to 53 players. The Chiefs must cut down to their final roster by Saturday.
