KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs are welcoming back a familiar face.

On Monday, the team announced it signed free agent running back Charcandrick West. The Chiefs previously signed West as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He spent four years with the organization and was cut in August when the team settled on Spencer Ware and Kareem Hunt as their primary backs.

West spent a brief stint with the New York Jets and worked out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he hasn’t played in the 2018 regular season.

The history between the two parties was a factor is West’s return, which comes after the Chiefs released Hunt late Friday after video emerged that appeared to show him shoving and kicking a 19-year-old woman at a Cleveland hotel in February.

West has rushed for seven touchdowns and 999 total yards during his time in the league. He will wear the number 30 on the field.
