KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Frank Mason III returned to the place that helped make him a college basketball star.
The former Kansas men's basketball standout and Sacramento Kings point guard returned, to the state of Kansas, and threw out the first pitch before the T-Bones' home game against Cleburne. Frank also signed autographs and took pictures with fans during the game. Frank seemed genuinely happy to be among fans that supported him through his entire collegiate career.
"I just feel like it's something special for me, you know, to make appearances and get involved because, I know how much I can change lives by just being there and getting involved," Mason said. "Like I said, I'm a people person and I love everyone who loves me. They got love for me and I just love helping people."
It was also an opportunity for Frank to promote his upcoming 2nd Annual Frank Mason III & Friends Celebrity Softball Game at T-Bones Stadium on Saturday, July 6th. The event will benefit both The National Youth Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City. The festivities will also feature a pre-game home run derby prior to the game.
"We got a couple of different guests," Mason said. "You know, we're obviously gonna have some of the guys that we had here last year. But, you know, I've got a couple of surprises. And, I'm working on getting some people that I think the fans would want to see out there playing."
