KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As international sports grapples with the proper protocol to resume play, coaches and players alike remain in limbo.
It's no different for Fort Osage alumnus Brian Starr, a Kansas City product unsure of his future playing international basketball.
"Of course I want to play bad as hell right now, but if it's not safe ... then I'm cool with just missing out," Starr told 41 Action News via videconference.
The 6-foot-3 guard currently averages 16 points and six assists per game for Borisfen Mogilev of the Belarus Premier League.
The league suspended its season amid the pandemic, so Starr returned home to try and stay in shape.
"Right now, it's kind of hard to plan for the future," Starr said, "and it's kind of an unsettling feeling."
With Starr's aspirations of playing on the highest level, missing out on this year could mean missing out on much more.
"I believe if I work hard and execute at the right times, I can get to the NBA," he said. "I know it has an effect on my future as far as NBA is concerned ... but I don't plan on stopping, so it doesn't matter either way."
