LAWRENCE, Kan. — With a tweet, Quentin Grimes announced where he'll be bouncing a basketball next season. Now, will he be playing basketball?

The former KU guard is off to the University of Houston, Grimes announced on Twitter Thursday. Grimes grew up in The Woodlands, TX, which is a suburb of Houston.

Under NCAA transfer rules, Grimes must sit out a year before playing for the Cougars. However, he intends to file a waiver with the NCAA for immediate eligibility.

Named a McDonald's All-American out of high school, Grimes averaged 8.4 points per game for the Jayhawks as a freshman.

He originally declared for the NBA Draft before pulling his name out and announcing his intentions to transfer.
