KANSAS CITY, Mo. — When the Chiefs and Texans meet to kick off the 2020 NFL season Thursday in primetime, the league’s two highest paid quarterbacks will once again face-off.
Patrick Mahomes says get comfortable, he and Deshaun Watson will be battling in the limelight for years to come.
“He makes a lot of big plays in big games,” Mahomes told the media via Zoom conference Sunday morning. “I said something to him last year at the end of the game...we’re going to have these battles for a long time.”

Watson, selected two picks behind Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft, reportedly signed a 4-year extension this week worth up to $156 million.
“They have a lot of talent around him,” Mahomes added. The reigning Super Bowl MVP inked a 10-year extension of his own this offseason, reportedly worth upwards of $450 million.
The duo meet for the third time Thursday, with each quarterback having won one game against the other.
