KANSAS CITY, Mo. — He may have worn Bronco and Jaguar jerseys the past couple of years, but Jamaal Charles was always a Chief.
He'll make sure of that when he signs a one-day contract with Kansas City before retiring from the National Football League.
Charles spent 11 seasons in the NFL, including nine with the Chiefs, the franchise that drafted Charles out of Texas in the third round in 2008.
Five times he rushed for more than 1,000 yards in the Red and Gold. Four times he was named to the Pro Bowl.
In 2012, he rushed for more than 1,500 yards. In 2013, Charles led the NFL with 12 rushing touchdowns and added seven more receiving touchdowns.
Kansas City cut Charles after the 2016 season. He spent parts of two seasons in Denver and Jacksonville.
Charles will finish his career with a 5.4 yards per carry average and with a spot waiting in the Chiefs Ring of Honor.
