KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Big 12 released its 2019-20 Men's Basketball Preseason Poll on Thursday with the Kansas Jayhawks in a familiar place.
The Jayhawks were picked to win the league in a vote by member schools for the ninth straight year in a row, despite not winning the conference title last season.
This is the 19th time overall KU has been chosen first in the preseason poll.
Eight of the 10 first-place votes went to Kansas, which couldn't vote for itself.
Baylor and Texas Tech, the reigning Big 12 co-champion along with Kansas State, each received one first-place vote and checked in second and third, respectively.
Texas was picked fourth in the poll followed by West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Kansas State and TCU.
The Wildcats lost three of their top players — Barry Brown, Kamau Stokes and Dean Wade — to graduation, prompting the low ranking.
