KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas State will open the 2020 season against Arkansas State at Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium before tangling with reigning Big 12 champion Oklahoma in its conference opener two weeks later.
The Wildcats visit the Sooners on Sept. 26, according to a revised conference schedule released Wednesday by the Big 12.
The adjusted conference slate, which features nine games with at least two built-in bye weeks, is back-loaded the rest of the way for K-State, which plays five road games and four home games against Big 12 foes.
After the early test at Oklahoma, the Wildcats play the four teams that finished below .500 in conference during the 2019 season before a rigorous closing month.
The Kansas game is scheduled for Oct. 24 in Manhattan.
K-State will be coming off a bye and also will have hosted Texas Tech and visited TCU before the battle for Sunflower State supremacy.
The Wildcats play at West Virginia on Halloween to wrap up October before finishing with home games against Oklahoma State (Nov. 7) and Texas (Dec. 5) sandwiched around road trips to Iowa State (Nov. 21) and Baylor (Nov. 28).
It remains unclear how many fans will be allowed to attend games, if any.
"The department continues to work with local county, city and University officials," K-State football said in a release. "Season ticket holders will be contacted via email as soon as capacity and ticket details are finalized."
The Big 12 Championship Game is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 12 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
K-State finished 8-5 overall last season, including a 5-4 record in Big 12 play, wrapping up the 2019 season with a 20-17 loss against Navy in the Liberty Bowl.
Sept. 12 marks the latest season opener since 1992 for the Wildcats, who have never played fewer than two non-conference games in a season before.
