MCDONALD, Kan. (KSNW) — One of the Olympic athletes competing in South Korea calls Kansas home.

KSNW reports Katie Uhlaender is a skeleton racer who grew up in Colorado. Now she lives in northwest Kansas when she’s not competing.

“Atwood, McDonald, Bird City. That’s like my little town,” said Uhlaender in a recent interview.

She believes people in northwest Kansas understand her Olympic dreams because they have a similar work ethic.

Uhlaender competes Saturday, Feb. 17 at 5:20 a.m. CT.
