LAWRENCE, Kan — The first recruiting class is in the books for Les Miles and his staff at KU. Nineteen student athletes will be coming to Lawrence to play their collegiate football of those nineteen, fourteen will be true freshmen and Miles says he has no intention of slowing these guys down by slapping a red shirt on them. They will be given every opportunity to start in their first year.

"I'm open to improving our team in other words I want to play the guy that's the best at the position." said the new head coach. "If you think that I want to red shirt or slow down a guy that's a great player already I'm not. I'm going to get about three years with the lad and I need to get him on the field and get him coached, let's see how good he can be."

Miles and his staff signing 5 junior college players and of the nineteen new Jayhawk football players, 8 of them signed during the December early signing period.
