KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There won’t be any fans in the stands at Kansas Speedway when NASCAR’s three national tours swing through town July 23-25.

Kansas Speedway President Pat Warren announced the decision Wednesday afternoon, adding that he hopes it will be safe for fans to attend when NASCAR returns in October.

He said Kansas Speedway officials “have worked closely with public health officials, medical experts, as well as state and federal officials” during the last month to determine if it was safe to have fans attend the NASCAR Cup Series Kansas 400 on July 23, the NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series Kansas 200 on both July 24 and July 25, and the NASCAR Xfinity Series Kansas 250 on July 25.

“After careful and extensive consideration for the health and safety of our fans and the local community, we determined that the most prudent course of action would be to host the races without fans,” Warren said in a statement. “While it was a difficult decision, the well-being of everyone who comes to our venue is paramount. We appreciate the patience and support from our fans, and look forward to our Fall NASCAR weekend, October 16-18.”

The ARCA Menards Series Kansas 150 also will run July 24 at Kansas Speedway for a total of five races over three days.
