KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Reminders of the reigning Super Bowl champions are back at Union Station, where the team celebrated with Chiefs Kingdom seven months ago. On the eve of their home opener, those fans can't wait.

"It's getting to be too cold to go out on the boat, and if I couldn't watch football, the Chiefs on Sunday or Thursdays, I'd go crazy," Sean Kelley, a Chiefs fan, told 41 Action News.

Kelley and his family traveled from Paola to snap a photo with a bobblehead of Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

And taking photographs with Chiefs signs at Union Station is now a tradition for the Dakan family, who are season tickets holders.

"There’s some uncertainty whether we're going to be able to make each game," Glen Dakan said, "but the idea of football being back in the fall and everything seems a little bit more normal with the Chiefs are getting ready to play again."

From pixels to paint, graffiti artists are joining in on Chiefs fever.

Some were invited to Survive KC, a laser-tag business in Union Station, to spray paint some Chiefs artwork.

Meanwhile, the players are a source of inspiration for Anthony Oropeza, with AOART5.

"Hey, it's been quite a ride. It's been one heck of a ride," Oropeza said. "Nobody knew how good Patrick [Mahomes] was going to be and my first piece – was one of the first ones I painted before Patrick became Patrick."

He plans to do some painting in his new studio space at the InterUrban ArtHouse in Overland Park before getting glued to the TV Thursday night.

His favorite piece is one he created of Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

"There’s just that movement of them going forward," Oropeza said. "There's also that you can just feel the love in their eyes – a determination of where they want to go as a couple of football players."

Both are key players in propelling the hometown team to another winning season.
