KC NWSL rounds out draft picks with K-State, Santa Clara players

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UPDATE, 10:45 p.m. | A Kansas State University player joins KC NWSL as one of two picks in the last round of the NWSL draft.

Midfielder Brookelynn Entz, of Newton, Kansas, was named to the All-Big 12 First Team in 2019 and 2020. She also is a three-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team (2018-20).

Santa Clara University's Alex Loera also joins Kansas City. The midfielder was named to the First Team All-West Region in 2019, as well as First Team All-West Coast Conference.

UPDATE, 8:50 p.m. | KC NWSL selected University of Wisconsin midfielder Victoria Pickett, University of California Los Angeles defender Lucy Parker and Texas A&M midfielder Addie McCain in the second round of the draft.

Pickett was the team's 15th pick. Originally from Barrie, Ontario, she played on Team Canada in the 2015 Pan-American Games and in the same year was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year.

Parker, KC's 16th pick, is originally from Cambridge, England. She was a second-team All-Pac-12 honoree in 2019 and led the 2019 UCLA team with 2,055 minutes played out of 2,180.

McCain, of Wylie, Texas, was named the 2020 SEC midfielder of the year and also was named to the All-SEC First Team the same year.

EARLIER | Kansas City, Missouri’s National Women’s Soccer League team added a two-time NCAA national champion to its roster with an “aggressive move” Wednesday night in the first round of the NWSL draft.

Kiki Pickett, a defender from Stanford, joins Kansas City as a three-time Pac-12 champion (2017-19).

“Kiki is a player we had ranked very high on our draft board,” Head coach Huw Williams said in a news release. “She is a great fit for our system, she’s explosive and can attack from the back.”

Kansas City has five remaining picks in the draft.
