KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas Jayhawks head football coach Les Miles said Friday he will not travel with the team for their game this weekend in West Virginia as he recovers from COVID-19.
In a statement Friday morning, Miles said that although he had been cleared by team health officials to travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, this weekend, he said continued uncertainly about the virus convinced him to stay in Lawrence.
“I have made the difficult decision to not make the trip to West Virginia,” Miles wrote in the statement. “While my 10-day isolation window was completed this morning, there is too much still unknown about this virus for me to feel 100% confident that I won’t transmit it to someone who comes into close contact with me on the team charter, hotel or at the game Saturday.”
Miles announced he had tested positive on Oct. 8.
Since then, Miles said that he’s only felt mild symptoms from the virus.
