KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Drew Lock is expected to hear his name called Thursday during the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

When it happens, Lock’s life will change — and not just because he’ll soon become a millionaire and the face of an NFL franchise.

After spending his life, all 22 years, living in Missouri, he’ll almost certainly be moving to an unfamiliar city far more than two hours from his family.

Lock has spent the week in Nashville, one of 23 prospects invited to attend the draft, which begins at 7 p.m. 41 Action News weekend anchor/reporter Dia Wall and cameraman Darrius Smith also are in Nashville to follow Lock’s journey.

Picks in the second and third rounds will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday with the final four rounds beginning at noon on Saturday.

Lock — a Lee’s Summit native and Mizzou grad, who set the SEC single-season record for passing touchdown as a junior in 2017 — is one of the top handful of quarterback prospects and may go in the top 10 picks.

With Lock’s life set to change, a multitude of supporters took to Twitter on Thursday morning, including another former MU legend at quarterback.

Former Tigers star Chase Daniel wished Luck good luck in a video on Twitter.

“It’s been a pleasure and an honor, watching you play,” Daniel said. “Just continuing the legacy that we’ve had at quarterback play the last really two decade Missouri. I’m excited to watch you at the next level.”

Daniel — now entering his 11th NFL season, including three with the Kansas City Chiefs and Super Bowl as a backup early in his career with the New Orleans Saints — encouraged Lock to “continue to ball out” and trust himself at the next level.

Lock’s high school coach at Lee’s Summit, Eric Thomas, was invited by the NFL to join his former QB protege in Nashville — and Thomas appears to be having a blast.

We’ll have more about Lock and where he’s drafted on the 10 p.m. news.
