LAWRENCE, Kan. — Let the bracket challenge begin! It's the official start of March Madness and everyone is excited about college basketball season's biggest event.
"I was just excited, like, 'Dang that's who we got?'" Kansas forward Dedric Lawson said. "It seems like it's going to be a fun tournament."
The Jayhawks understand their game against Iowa State could be a key factor for the opening round.
"They play four guards," guard Devon Dotson said. "They have a pretty good scorer, Vasa (Pusica) I think, so that Iowa State game could help us a lot."
With the Jayhawks in the Midwest Regional, it could be the all-star lineup of college basketball Blue Bloods.
"Having Carolina, and Kentucky in one regional that sounds more like a Final Four than a Regional." said coach Bill Self. "A lot of things have to happen for all teams for that to occur."
Self was pretty animated in saying that most of the guys on KU's team have probably never been to Utah, but he's an old veteran. Self went to Utah about 4 weeks ago for recruiting. He said he's hoping to get two more victories before coming back to Kansas City to get his team ready for another run at a national championship.
