KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced all fall sports will be postponed until at least Jan 1., 2021, citing COVID-19 concerns.

The league took into account the Thursday decision by National Collegiate Athletic Association to postpone all fall Divison 1 championships.

"The emergency action comes as a result of the COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic, the NCAA announcement to cancel Fall National Championships," the league said.

The MIAA will evaluate whether fall sports can resume competition in the spring.

Postponing fall sports affects football, volleyball, men's soccer and women's soccer.

Universities affected near the KC metro include Northwest Missouri State University, Pittsburg State University and the University of Central Missouri, among others.
