KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chase Elliott won the Hollywood Casino 400 last fall at Kansas Speedway.
Right now, he's 10th in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs standings before as the the racing circuit returns to Kansas City, Kansas, for an elimination race that pares the field of championship contenders from 12 drivers to eight.
The winner of Sunday's race, which starts at 1:30 p.m. and will air on 41 Action News, automatically advances to the next round of the playoffs.
Obviously, Elliott could use another win or, at the very least, a strong performance to move up into the top eight.
No doubt he'll have good vibes from a track he's recently conquered as well as from sitting down with 41 Action News Sports Director Mick Shaffer to go a half-dozen laps on Six Questions.
The weekend starts Friday with the ARCA Menard's Series Championship Kansas 150 at 7:30 p.m. under the lights after practice for the NASCAR Xfinity and Monster Energy Cup Series races.
Qualifying for the Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 300 will take place at 11:05 a.m. with the race at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
