The University of Missouri is finalizing a deal to hire Eli Drinkwitz as its new head football coach. Mizzou reached an agreement Sunday afternoon, according to ESPN.
Drinkwitz heads to Columbia from Appalachian State, his first head coach position. After just one season with App State, Drinkwitz finished with a record of 12-1. He also led the Mountaineers to the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
When the deal is finalized, Drinkwitz will become the second youngest coach at a Power 5 school, at just 36 years old.
The university plans to make the coaching announcement Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. in the Show-Me Club in the South End zone at Memorial Stadium. The public is invited to attend.
Drinkwitz will replace Barry Odom, who was let go by the university after the Tigers finished their season 6-6 with a final win over Arkansas.
