KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After sitting out the year due to injury, Mizzou sophomore forward Jontay Porter declared for the NBA Draft on Friday.
Porter tweeted, "I'll be declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft. I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who has helped me get to this point in my journey, especially my family, coaches, and teammates. Excited for this next step."

Porter sat out the season after tearing his ACL and MCL in a closed scrimmage in October. He then re-tore ligaments in his knee while rehabbing in Denver in March.
The 6-foot-11 Porter averaged 9.9 points and 6.8 rebounds as a freshman in the 2017-2018 season at Mizzou. He took part in the NBA combine last year, but chose to return to Mizzou.
If selected, Porter would become the 46th MU player taken in the NBA Draft. Last year, the Denver Nuggets selected his brother, Michael Porter, Jr. with the 14th pick.
The NBA Draft is set for June 20 in Brooklyn.
