KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The clock is winding down on the freshman season for Mizzou star Michael Porter Jr., who's sidelined with a bad back, but he may be back in the line up just in time for the madness of March.
"To me and how I feel right now, there is a good chance," Porter Jr. said. "I think the doctors are going to be amazed at my progress."
Porter Jr. met with the media Friday afternoon for the first time in over a month. He hasn't played since the Tigers' season opener, and he left the game after only two minutes. Porter Jr. underwent back surgery and hasn't played since.
Next week he will head to Dallas to meet with his spinal surgeon and could get the all clear to return.
"My rehab therapist thinks I’m good to go with practice except for the contact part," Porter Jr. said, "I’m hoping that the doctor clears me for everything, contact included. That’s what I would love to hear. But it’s not up to me. It’s up to the doctors."
