NEW YORK — Players from several Major League Soccer teams have skipped voluntary workouts after the league and the players association hit an impasse on an agreement that would clear the way for a tournament this summer in Florida.

The MLS players association voted to approve economic concessions for this season, including across-the-board salary cuts.

The proposal was sent back to the league for approval by team owners.

Reports say the owners have set an 11 AM Tuesday deadline for the players to agree to the owners' terms or be locked out.

Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes was scheduled to meet with the media Monday but that Zoom call was postponed.
