KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On March 19, Major League Soccer planned to postpone all matches for eight weeks. On Tuesday, the league said that start date is "extremely unlikely."
In a statement, MLS said, “Although we hoped to return to play in mid-May, that is extremely unlikely based on the guidance of federal and local public health authorities.”

MLS play has been on hold since March 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We continue to learn more every day from the medical experts, and we expect to have additional details in the coming weeks regarding when we can return to play,” MLS said.
The league announced on April 2 that it had extended the team training moratorium through April 24.
