KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Northwest Missouri State isn't just a football school anymore.
No, the Bearcats men's basketball team is doing big things as well.
Two years after winning an NCAA Division II national title, Northwest Missouri is back in the Final Four after downing Mercyhurst 55-51 on Wednesday in Evansville, Indiana.
"It shows what kind of kids we have, how special they are and I'm proud of their effort," Bearcats coach Ben McCollum said.
Trevor Hudgins led the way with 20 points for Northwest Missouri, which is the tourney's top seed.
The Bearcats (36-0) now face fifth-seeded Saint Anselm (26-5) on Thursday with the winner advancing to Saturday's national championship game.
